About the CAFM
Who We Are:
Canadian Association Forensic Medicine (CAFM) will be a non-profit professional organization with Canadian and international membership. The CAFM will promote the medical discipline of forensic pathology in Canada and deliver an annual conference for education and research in forensic pathology and related disciplines including medicolegal death investigation, forensic anthropology, forensic toxicology, and allied fields.
The CAFM will be a membership-based organization with a constitution/bylaws, term-limited officers, standing committees, and an annual membership fee.
The CAFM will be the national focal point for continuing professional education and research in forensic pathology and allied subjects. The CAFP will especially focus on developing the scientific basis of forensic pathology and medicolegal death investigation and encourage research by residents, fellows, and other trainees.
The annual conference will be held in a Canadian city and include keynote presentations, such the Frederick Jaffe Memorial lectureship in Forensic Medicine which was inaugurated at the University of Toronto in 2012. The conference will provide awards to trainees for the best clinical and the best scientific presentations, annually. The annual conference will help members attain maintenance of certification credits for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
The CAFM could partner with the Canadian Association of Pathologists and the Canadian Association of Neuropathologists to deliver joint programs.
